The Family

Three generations. One thread.

Since 1970, the Malik family has lived by the rug trade — three generations, from a small town outside Lahore to a gallery in Houston. They make their own hand-knotted lines at the family’s facilities in Lahore, Pakistan, with master Afghan weavers, and curate genuine vintage and antique pieces alongside.

For fifty years these rugs reached galleries and palaces as a wholesale house. Now, for the first time, the family brings that collection directly to you — from Houston, shipped nationwide.

About our restoration
Good to know

Questions, answered honestly.

What is a hand-knotted rug — and why does it matter?

A hand-knotted rug is woven entirely by hand, knot by knot on a loom — the same centuries-old technique behind the world's great Persian and Oriental rugs. Tying the tens of thousands of knots in a single piece can take master weavers months. The result lasts for generations, ages beautifully, and — because no two are ever tied the same — is genuinely one of a kind. It is the opposite of a printed or machine-made rug. Every rug in our hand-knotted collection is the real thing, and each product page states its exact construction, origin and age.

What makes Arteverk different from other rug stores?

We are a three-generation rug family, in the trade since 1970. For fifty years we supplied galleries, retailers and palaces around the world as a wholesale house — now we bring that same collection directly to you, maker-direct from our Houston showroom, with no middleman markup. We make our own hand-knotted lines and curate genuine vintage and antique pieces, and we tell you honestly where each rug was actually made. That means gallery-quality, truly one-of-a-kind rugs at fair prices — and a real family you can talk to, in person or over video.

Do you ship hand-knotted rugs outside Houston?

Yes — we ship hand-knotted rugs free across the United States, with easy 14-day returns. If you are in or near Houston, you are welcome to visit our showroom and walk on any rug in person. If you are anywhere else, we will send detailed photos and video, or meet you on a live video call to show you the piece in your own light before you decide. Either way, you are buying directly from the family that sourced and made it.
