The Piece

A geometry only the old looms still remember.

The Rosewood Atrium is a Bakhtiari rug, from Afghanistan, woven in wool, measuring 4'9" × 6'8". It was tied entirely by hand, knot by knot on the loom, so no two are ever exactly alike.

Like every rug we carry, it comes from the Malik family, in the rug trade since 1970, and is sold direct from our Houston gallery. See it in person or on a live video call before you decide.

A note on character

Faint creases from transit are normal and relax within a few days of lying flat. Slight irregularities in line and color are the fingerprints of the weaver, not flaws.

The Making

From fleece to floor.

Every Arteverk rug is made the slow way — by hand, through the six steps below. No two pass through them quite the same.

A master spinner hand-spinning highland wool into yarn on a traditional wheel 01
Wool

Hand-spun highland wool — spun the way it has been for generations, for a pile that wears in, not out.

Lifting wool from a steaming natural-dye vat with a wooden pole 02
Dye

Small-batch dyeing in steaming vats — colours drawn from nature, then sun-set so they soften gracefully with age.

A weaver tying knots by hand on the loom with a hook-knife 03
Knot

Tied by hand, knot by knot — a single rug can take months and tens of thousands of knots.

A finished rug rinsed with sun-bright water during the hand-wash 04
Wash

Hand-washed and sun-dried — the step that gives our rugs their soft hand and lived-in glow.

Hand-shearing the pile of a hand-knotted rug level with a traditional tool 05
Shear

Hand-sheared — the pile clipped level by eye, bringing the design into focus.

Binding the edge of a finished rug by hand — the step called kinara 06
Finish

Finished by hand — edges bound (kinara), fringe secured (zanjiri), the rug stretched and squared (takhta).

What Owners Say

Bought once. Kept for good.

Each rug is one of a kind and sold once, so it isn't rated piece by piece. The people who live with our rugs tell the story instead.

Good to Know

Questions, answered.

Is this rug really hand-knotted?

Yes. This is a genuine hand-knotted rug — tied entirely by hand, knot by knot, from wool. That hand-work is exactly why no two are alike and why this piece is one of a kind.

What is this rug made of, and where was it made?

It is hand-knotted from wool in Afghanistan, on a cotton foundation.

What size is this rug?

This exact piece measures 4'9" × 6'8" (about a 5' X 8' (152 X 244) rug). These are the real, measured dimensions of this one rug — hand-made pieces vary by an inch or two from any standard size.

Is this piece really one of a kind?

Yes. This is the only one of this rug that exists — its colour, size and pattern will never be reproduced. When it sells, it is gone for good.

Do you ship for free?

Yes — every order ships free anywhere in the United States, fully insured and carefully rolled for transit.

What is your return policy?

You have 14 days from delivery to request a return, and up to 30 days to send it back. We email you a prepaid shipping label — return shipping is on us — and refund you once the rug is back with us.

How do I care for my rug?

Vacuum gently (no beater bar), rotate it now and then for even wear, and blot spills right away rather than rubbing. For a deeper clean, see our rug care guide or ask us about professional hand-cleaning.

Can I see it in person before buying?

Yes. You're welcome at our Houston showroom — book a private viewing and we'll have the piece ready to walk on.

Can I pay over time?

Yes — you can split your purchase into monthly payments with Affirm at checkout, and checking your rate won't affect your credit score.
