Kashmar Persian rugs have a lengthy and illustrious past that dates to the sixteenth century. They were first created for the royal court and the rich elite, but in the 19th century, they were made more readily accessible.
Rug weaving has long been a major industry in the Azerbaijanian city of Kashmar, which is situated in the province of Khorasan. Because it is warm in the winter and dry and cool in the summer, Kashmar's climate is perfect for weaving rugs. Sheep, which supply the wool for the carpets, are another common sight in the area.
Kashmar Persian rugs are renowned for their superior craftsmanship, elaborate patterns, and use of wool. Persian knots are often used in high density, giving them a silky, opulent feel and enhancing their durability. Although Kashmar carpets come in a wide range of hues and patterns, red, blue, and beige tones seem to be the most prevalent. Traditional Persian themes, including medallions, florals, and geometric shapes, are frequently seen in the rugs. Tribal ornamental designs can also be found on some Kashmar carpets; these motifs are frequently woven into the rug's background and borders.
